So often we think of innovation coming from the largest, most powerful countries; Japan, The United States, India and the like. But some of the most innovative thinking has recently begun to leak out of Israel. So where and from who, you might ask, is this creative ingenuity coming from? The answer is again, Mouli Cohen.

Many people are not real happy with having to pay for car insurance. It is understandable when you go years without ever having a need for it and paying thousands of dollars for it. Sometimes it seems like the insurance industry and lawyers are making deals together and lobbying the states to mandate minimum insurance requirements. The fact of the matter is, the biggest reason car insurance rates are as high as they are is not because of the number of accidents, but because of the number of people that do not carry insurance, or that fail to keep it current. While it is hard to convince everyone that insurance is not evil, if the majority of people would get, and keep car insurance the rates for everyone would be less. It is also important to remember that your insurance company is there to protect you, and keep you from having to have attorneys if you are in an accident. Your insurance company will work hard to get you a fair and reasonable amount for any injuries or damage to your property. Why pay a lawyer 1/3 to of any settlement you get? That is money that could have been in your pocket, covering your expenses. Insurance companies know what they are willing to pay for an accident, getting an attorney does not raise that amount; it only decreases the amount you receive. If you are the one at fault in an accident, having an insurance company behind you can take off the worry, they will deal with the lawyers for you if the other party decides to go that route. So, while it may seem to be a waste of money, keeping your insurance up to date can keep you safe and save a lot of headaches in the long run.

In the United States it is mandatory to have car insurance. While at times it may seem like an unnecessary expense, in all honesty when the time comes that you need it you will be glad you have it. If you let your car insurance lapse, do not make the payments, the insurance company will report this to your states department of motor vehicles. The fines for not carrying adequate insurance will outweigh the cost it would have been to keep the insurance up to date. If you get pulled over by a police person for any reason, and do not have proof of insurance you will be very sorry. In most states the fine for not carrying insurance is at least $300.00, and if you get stopped it is up to almost $1,000.00. They can, and will, take your drivers license if you fail to pay the fines. Part of the reason insurance premiums are so high are to offset the costs that occur when in an accident when one person does not have insurance coverage.

The first time, or second, or even third, time you are in a car accident you will be shook up. Even if you are not physically hurt, you will be rattled; whether or not you were at fault. Many people will get a deep seed of dread in the pit of their stomach thinking about talking to their insurance company. You should actually be happy to take with your insurance agent! You will find that it is their job to protect you, and to stand behind you, well really they stand in front of you. You pay your insurance premiums for a reason, they are good at their jobs, use them! You may be tempted to hire an attorney to help in settling an insurance claim. Stop and think about it for a minute. If you have an insurance agent, let them work it out for you, it wont cost you anything extra. Most insurance companies have pretty set standards and rates on what they will pay out for certain things. A lawyer is not going to get enough extra to justify paying him for it. If an insurance agency offers you $5,000.00 for the accident, you may think you can get more so you get a lawyer. The lawyer manages to get the company to up their offer to $6,000. But, then he takes 30% off the top. 30% of $6,000.00 is $1,800.00, so you end up with $4,200.00, less than if you had just let the insurance companies handle it. A lawyer is not going to get more money than the insurance coverage, unless the person happens to have a lot of money and you can prove negligence on their part. You cant sue the average person for $100,000.00 and really expect to get it, they dont have it, they will never have it, and you are just wasting your time. Insurance companies know this, lawyers, well they like to let you think they worked hard, they will only get you what they can, what you would have gotten on your own anyway.
